Hi, I thought I'd share this true rarity with you all:
Second and last LP by Phil Harrison's and Stuart Gordon's traditional British folk outfit, recorded during a four-day session at Bath University just before Christmas in 1976. Classic tunes like "The Drunken Sailor", Paddy Murphy's Wife", "King of the Fairies", "The Masons Apron" and "Merrily Kissed the Quaker" are treated so joyfully you wish you had been there.
I apologize for the rather poor shape of my LP, the person who previously owned it must have enjoyed it just as much as I do. I couldn't do much about the surface noise.
Harrison and Gordon made a new wave pop LP as Shortwave in 1979, then moved to The Korgis where they pretty much replaced Andy Davis. As Foreign Bodies they made the single "Voices" in 1981.
BTW, Shortwaveband's 1975 debut has eluded me for a long time, so if anyone has it to share, I'd be eternally grateful.
Cheers,
Gumby

Thank you for this record friends.
This looks terrific. Can't wait to give it a listen.
Thanks for this, Gumby. I heard a friend's copy of this many years ago, but never acquired a copy of my own. I never did hear their first album, so can't help you with that, I'm afraid.
I have their brilliant first album, both on LP and digitally -- but have no idea how to upload here. Can someone advise me? It would be good to pay back just a little of what I've gained from this wonderful site over the last couple of years.
I went to several of their gigs in the mid-70s -- some with Adrian Henri -- and managed to track them both down again a couple of years ago.

Hi David,
First you need a program named WinRAR, which you can download for free here:
http://www.freedownloadscenter.com/Utilities/Compression_and_Zip_File_Utilities/WinRAR_Download.html
With the program you can compress a folder containing the mp3 files into .rar or .zip format. Select the folder, click on the tab "Add" in the upper left corner, and in the "Archive name and parameters" window choose the archive format (RAR or ZIP) and click "OK". WinRAR creates a RAR/ZIP package.
Then go to:
http://www.rapidshare.com/
and follow the instructions to choose the package you created and upload it. The uploading process is slow, so have some time available.
A brilliant album indeed from two brilliant songwriters!
Just watched a video ofthe 'boys' somehwere in Greece (2010) trotting out some of the best songs and certainly not looking much older (like the rest of us)

Just watched a video of the #boys' gigging somewhere in Greece (Summer 2010) looking good as ever and not much older - as the rest of us.....
Hi,
I have quite a good-sounding FLAC version of SWB's first lp. I would be happy to share it with you. Even happier if you would share their third album with me in lossless form (I read aqt another site you have it....). Please let me know, ok? regards,
