The sound quality is awful.
wow, thank you, i can't wait to hear this!
Somewhere - in Joe Boyd's possession I suspect - there are a couple of excellent quality live recordings of the Fairport/Denny lineup. Which will probably never see the light of day. I know Richard Thompson doesn't have any ...too bad. Leaving us from this short era only a bare handful of listenable live tapes, mainly audience recorded. And, in this particular case, largely unlistenable. Too bad.
FANTASTIC! This is "ground zero" for the whole electric folk thing - what a treat. Sound quality is much better than the cassette that I've had for years, a treat to listen to this incredibly historic concert in this degree of fidelity. Where did it come from?
A thousand thank yous...

This looks enticing. It's a shame we don't have the other two sets...
Oh lord, Nick Drake opened? What I would give to hear just one live set by Nick Drake. But thank you for this!
Thank you.....but the quality is a bit of a struggle

Been listening to this over and over, an amazing show. Yes - it's a tough listen in this age of HD and Surround Sound but it's a rewarding listen for anyone who loves the band or electric folk.
...here's the best way to enjoy the show
1) Set morning alarm clock 30 minutes earlier than usual
2) Treat yourself to a heart breakfast
2) Load Fairport Royal Festival Hall 1969 into your iPod
3) Head outdoors with comfortable walking shoes ( rain is helpful too )
4) Turn iPod volume to half power
5) Begin listening, by halfway through the show everything will seem listenable
Interesting that Fairport changed the order of the album slightly to better suit a live concert setting. Tam Lin is absolutely ferocious and has much more soloing at the end than other versions. It always seemed odd that Quiet Joys of Brotherhood and Ballad of Easy Rider were considered for Liege & Lief as they were not "Trad" - but in this concert it makes perfect sense.
thank you again ...

Yeah, the sound quality sucks - but thank GOD this tape exists! And thank you for posting it! I've read about this gig for years and had no idea that there was any evidence at all and then suddenly --- oh to have been there.
So what if it sounds like you're actually outside the hall and wearing a balaclava. You can still hear the sound of history. Thanks!
