Does anyone know which of the Cunningham Brothers has passed on? Phil was an accordionist of diabolic speed, and I consider myself blessed to have seen him perform live. If he is still with us, you owe yourself the treat of tracking down any performances he may still be giving. -- Smitty59
Hi Smitty, sadly enough the official Johnny Cunningham website tells us:
Johnny Cunningham passed away on the evening of December 15th, 2003. He died at home from a heart attack, embraced in Trisha's arms.
So here is the answer ;-(
I'm still so jazzed up over your Relativity posts; I hope some other listeners have enjoyed them, too. If so, I've got some others you might try, if available:
Triona Ni Dhomnaill - Triona
Nightnoise - The Parting Tide
Nightnoise- A Windham Hill Sampler
Phil Cunningham - Airs and Graces
John Cunningham - Fair Warning
Triona and her brother, Michael O'Dhomnaill, were part of Relativity, as were the Cunningham Brothers; Michael also formed Nightnoise, and at one point I believe his sister, and perhaps one of the Cunninghams, played in Nightnoise, too.
Dolores Keane - Solid Ground
Dolores Keane - Broken Hearted
I'll Wander
I haven't seen any sites putting up Dolores Keane's excellent music. I believe she also recorded with John (?) Fauklner. Hope someone out there has some of the above recordings (all, I think, were L:Ps on the Green Linnet label). -- Smitty59
