Hey all,
Heres a band from 1985 that I havent seen on the blogs - Scotch Measure. Doing traditional folk tunes, in a fairly heavy brogue, with a smattering of folk - rock to it. An interesting voice. Part of the folk rock of the eighties.

Thanks for all the great music over the years. I take a look at your blog almost every day and find great stuff that had no idea existed. By any chance have Michael Yonkers GRIMWOOD album? Also I saw a new anthology of Mott the Hoople / Ian Hunter called Old Records Never Die.
Thanks again
Amazing likeness to Sylvia Barnes version of "Wild Rovin" on the Kentigern album, unless all young Scottish Female singers sound similar of course :-))
Scans and more detailed group information would be appreciated
Thanks.
I have the album- bought new in the eighties even :)
But there is minimal details -ie no inner notes or comments.
I can pass on - Scotch measure are:
Jim Barnes (guitar, cittern, vocals)
Sylvia Barnes (Vocals, dulcimer, guitar)
Andy Lavery (Keyboard, vocals)
The album was first published by topic records in 1985.
I'll scan the covers on the weekend when I have time.
Have a few more albums I haven't seen around. Will post them as I get them uploaded.

Ah well there you go, Sylvia Barnes
is the singer... I thought I had not mistaken her voice and style.
Scans will be appreciated, thanks..
By the way the Kentigern album was posted on "Highqualitymp3" but not here, maybe its time to correct that.
This is a great album! Thanks, Jake.
I don't recall ever hearing of Scotch Measure before, Sylvia Barnes has a wonderful voice.
Slainte.

(Don't know if my first comment went through....)
Really enjoyable. And, yes please put up the graphics.

I have seen them play live twice, once at the Windsor Arts Centre and then at there last ever gig (or so it was said at the time) at the Nettlebed Folk Club. I was a fan after hearing some tracks played on a folk station at the time. They sound the same live as they do on record. When they sang the The Corncake live I was blown away, amazing stuff. They signed my album sleeve for me.
I have some fragments WMAs digitized from my old 80s cassette tape.
Still wonderful. Lovely, lovely voice.
