"Dans, Dans, Olav Liljekrans" 1978

First a new vocalist, Jenn Mortensen, and then a new fiddler, Øyvind Rauset, joined in the spring 1977. That summer we played at Kalvøya, the biggest festival in Norway at the time, and at the Horten Festival. In 1978 we left Phonogram to join up with the left-wing record company Mai. They released "Dans, dans, Olav Liljekrans" (Dance, dance, Olav Liljekrans) the same year. The title track was maybe our most popular song, but the album was the worst we ever made. The critics blamed it on the new members of the band, but it was the producer who stunk.

True, the production is not very good. Still, I have my doubts about the band's new vocalist at the time. Their new fiddler, however, Øyvind Rauset, was and is a really great player and composer. Check his fantastic "13 umulige danser" ("13 impossible dances"): http://rauset.no/

Oh (WO)MAN (?)!
I remember Horten 77! My first Festival- experience, and the weather was perfect. You were on the bill along with Michael Urbaniak, Champion Jack Dupree, The top-o'-the-bill-act John Miles, and Ian Gillian Band, wich i actually missed, or just choosed not to see for reasons i no longer recall.
It was a real goodtime set you folks(!) delivered; the crowd danced, joined hands and formed a circle (Wich was a common way of dancing amongst the Norwegian lefties in the 70s.)The group had a mainly domestic(?) hit with the tune "Reinlender" (name of a trad Norwegian / Scandinavian dance,But with a heavy back-beat!), who'd got lots of air-play at the National Radio-network (NRK).
A great summer; O' Youth; Wheren art thou? :-D
