Idaho and Utah, eh? Sure, why not. Sounds interesting. I'm pretty sure "House Carpenter" doesn't actually originate in the Rocky Mountains, though.

The 'Utah' here I think is a pun, referring to Utah Phillips. Rosalie Sorells was the first person to perform Utah's songs to audiences. Eventually, she made enough demand for him that he had to practice enough to get good at guitar and then go out on tour.

I've been thinking about posting some early Utah at Wrath of the Grapevine; I think now I will.

And everyone say a prayer for Utah Phillips; he's got some serious health issues, and a life of hoboing hasn't left much of a retirement fund.

For more info on him, check out his official site and his blog, with info on albums, benefit concerts, and his radio show, Loafer's Glory: The Hobo Jungle of the Mind

someone killed nearly all my rapidshare links here.
Battklefield band, General Humbert, Watersons and so on are gone
Lizardson, I guess, re-upped Rosalie Sorrels.
New links will be available soon

I am enthused to find anything by Rosalie Sorrels, and looking around here, I realize what a great blog I just discovered!

But alas, whatever that new link once was (new mirror2, or something), it goes nowhere now.

There seems no other blog ever carrying this rare music, at least my extensive searches did not bring anything up.

Can anyone help?
