Mac Gayden
"Mcgavock Gayden" 1973
01. Queen Anne's Lace 02. Rising Sun 03. Tennessee 04. Solomon`S Porch 05. Take Me Away 06. Light Man 07. Caney Fork River Daze 08. Above The Timber Line 09. Genevieve (The Calm After the Storm) 10. Reunion
With regards to Witchseason for his/her great entry on Mac Gayden. I like this first record alot. It's commonly regarded as one of his weaker albums, but I do not agree with this. It's a surprisingly mature singer/ songwriter LP, which I rate higher than his second & third. Ever Lasting Love became a well-known song, but there are a lot of better songs on this album. I'm one of the few owners of an original copy of this record & I'm very happy with this.
Thanks for posting this record! His greatest achievement. A wonderful and very personal album. I had the LP 30 years ago but lost it along the way. Have been searching the net for years and here it is. Tennessee is such a great tune. You made my day! Love from Stefan in Sweden
Just had to say thanx so much for putting this up. I had a brief email correspondence with Mac Gayden a couple of years ago (after I spotted he was selling his house on eBay!). He mentioned that there were moves afoot to get all his stuff up on iTunes, but nothing seems to have resulted yet. Original copies of this LP, on the extremely rare occasions they are offered on eBay, go for seventy quid plus. One of his weaker albums? Tosh! A little quieter than his later ones, maybe takes a few listens to totally get into, but instrumentally he makes such beautiful aural landscapes. BTW, if you like this or his other solo LPs, seek out also the first Barefoot Jerry album, which I don't see mentioned on the more recent postings here.
I hate to have missed this. This has always been some of my favorite Mac Gayden music. He still performed some of these tunes when I last saw him live back in the early 1990's.

I left a request for this here, so thank you very much!
Apart from the over-wrought "Genevieve", it's a beautiful and accomplished piece of work. I love it when he goes into falsetto!
I now have the first three - apprently there's a fourth, and a fifth, very recent disc.
My favourite Mac Gayden moment - the guitar solo on Morning Glory, which never fails to give me the shivers - truly astonishing.

Was looking for the dl link but it appears to have been removed.
Was the album re-released or something of that nature?
Let me know.
Thanks.
