I couldn't resist it. This, IMHO, is a beautiful album. Still touring and recording 37 years after it was released (and sounding pretty damn good if Youtube is anything to go by) Melanie deserves a lot more recognition than she gets.

I heard Melanie Safka in concert a couple of years ago. Her voice has matured and she has learned how to use it better. So, unlike say JM and LC, it actually sounds better today, IMO. I wish I had taken a stealth recorder along. :(

WOW! I have been looking for this for a long time. Had the vinyl as a teen (*blush* - I've always been a folk geek - I'm only thirty now, so I had the vinyl when it was decidedly unpopular for a 17 year old to listen to Melanie).

my house mate used to play melanie over and over til I could take it no more.
A friend working on scottish fish trawler had the same experience with a fellow fisherman, so they threw the cassette out into the waves :)
And now somewhere in the ocean depths a happy haddock is probably annoying the neighbours with his Melanie cassette.
