...not to be confused with the current celtic prog band of the same name...

Can anyone tell us what kind of music they play and where are they from?
Chris.
Please tell me more about this band. I thought it was the Celtic Prog band with Joanne Hogg, until I read the warning. Thanks newelectricmuse :)
Hi Lizardson
your blog, best say your garden, is very much beautiful, full of aromes and perfumes. A huge quantity of folk band of the 70s that never have the deserved honor and glory.
I listen this album of Iona and yes... fantastic. Very fantastic folk trad music especially on the instrumental high dynamic pieces. It's a folk bomb. I believe to see irish, wales and Far Oer sounds but i could wrong. Impossible to find info on the band. I see on book Tapestry of Delights and Marquee British Encyclopedia but nothing. Apparently there's another band called Iona from 1978 formed by Michael Storey and James Lascelles, produced by John Portor. But from only sure font on the net i understood this band is called Cuckoo and album title is "Iona". This one is on Silverscales K0013913. I report this from avoid anyone to fall in confusion.
Thank a lot for pearl
This IONA was founded in the University area of Leeds in the late 1970s. Possibly met through the university folk club (where I saw some the members play solo before the band was formed). Also saw one of the guys (sings Flower of Maharally on the album but I forget his name) perform solo at a pub called the Pack Horse, at the end of Clarendon Road, once. Again, before the band formed.
I later saw the band perform as a whole, again at the Leeds University folk club. I'd guess this would be in the 1976-77 academic year.
Update link, please!
