Dave Burland

"A Dalesman's Litany" 1971

10 tracks, 38 mins, highly recommended It's really a treat to finally have Dave's first album from 1971 available on CD. I've always enjoyed the music of this South Yorkshire performer. His gentle rich warm voice and melodic flowing guitar are appealing on many levels and for all his gentleness he can convey powerful emotions. The material here is all traditional and there are such wonderful songs as Here's The Tender Coming/ Lord Lovel/ The Dalesman's Litany/ William taylor/ The Bleacher Lassie O'Kelvinhaugh and others.

A classic album! I already have it, but I had to say something.
Great post.

Thanks for this--good stuff. Can I make another request, since the last one worked out so well? I'd love to hear the Fisher Family's self-titled 1965 album--hopefully the reissued version with bonus tracks. Cheers.

Thanks very, very much for turning me on to this great LP.

Listening to Dave Burland he seems as great in some ways as Nic Jones, Vin Garbutt, Hamish Imlach, or Nick Drake and yet you have only this one LP on Time Has Told Me while the others merit multiple LP's.

This seems an injustice.

I think you would enrich your site (and blow my mind!) if you could post some more Dave Burland LPs.

Some suggestions (all of which are unavailable commercially) -

Dave Burland
Songs and Buttered Haytcocks
Songs of Ewan McColl
Just Act Normal
You Can't Fool the Fat Man
Rollin'
Willin'

THANKS
