Hi, As a founder member of the group Hunter Muskett, I notice you are selling downloads of our material through your site. Who do I get in touch with concerning your release of our product, as we do own the copyrights to these recordings. My name is Doug Morter and you can contact me through dougmorter@hotmail.com

Hunter Muskett (on Time Has Told Me)

I'm sorry, Mr. Doug Morter.
I'll delete your "product" on my site.

Hi Lizsardson, Thanks for the appreciation, and I have no problem with folks downloading/purchasing our material, as long as someone lets us know! It may be nearly forty years old, but it still means a lot to us, and it's great to know there are still appreciative folk out there, but it's important that whoever is re-releasing our stuff is aware that we ain't dead yet! Thanks,

_______Terry Hiscock

Thanks Mr. Doug Morter,
We are always respecting great musicians like you.

It seems that the group is not against downloads. I think they were concerned you were getting money from it, which is not the case. I think they understand that sites like this actually do them a service by keeping their music alive. Hope it can be reposted for us who are now interested.

So, Liz, are you going to leave it deleted?

It seems clear to me, since they mentioned the copyright, that they expect to be paid as least the basic royalty rate on the album, including songwriting and performing royalties, and whether or not Lizardson charges you for the download, they expect Lizardson to pay their standard royalty share to them, as legally required.

So...bottom line is I think if you want to hear this group, you'll have to take a chance and buy it without knowing what it sounds like.

He did mention "copyrights", but in the context of "selling" the product. The group's second communication did not repeat this - apparently being aware that nothing is sold or any money received on this site - and definitely did not seem to be opposed to downloading. As for being notified, I assume that would not be a problem at all.

Since he left an email address, speculation is fruitless. Just ask him!

Good point, and why not just ask the musicians for a free copy and cut out the middleman?

Let us know what they say. :)

When an artist creates something the artist is only too happy that people want to listen. Without money in this material world however one cannot eat, raise kids, have a home etc ( just like everytone else--we are after all human beings as well) and certainly not afford to continue to produce art, certainly not music because studios cost money and so too do good musicians to help..the worst is that one loses heart eventually. Doug has been in the front line of music for 40 years, always giving from his heart and he is not a rich man, but he is a great man. I am proud to be his friend.
He is indeed a gentleman and there arn't a lot of those left, so climb off your high horses some of you people.
