11.59
Our Sacrifice of Praise (UK Christian Folk 1974)
11.59 was a British Christian group that released one exceptionally rare album way back then. Most tracks have been inspired by Psalms and other passages from the Bible, which speaks clearly from the lyrics that do carry a Message, but with the exception of “Hallelujah Jesus!” that shouldn’t bother anyone. That particular song, however, may be a bit too much of a “hallelujah-gospel-song” (pun intended) for most - even I tend to skip it. The other material brings beautiful progressive folk with quite a bit of Mellotron playing and good (male and female) vocals. ~Background Magazine

I am utterly confused. I very much want to download this album, but when I click the link I get a page saying that my rapidshare account needs to be extended. But I did just extend in two days ago. Are there two different rapidshares now? I've heard others grumbling about this on other music blogs recently. Any clue as to what is going on?
Excellent album. Obviously the music is very inspired and the result is a sound that is uplifting and glorious. Some Christian music can be to extreme and can turn me away, but here is one that is very enjoyable regardless of the religious significance of the songs.
Fantastic stuff. If the lyrics were non-religious this would still be a great progressive folk album!
I heard the track Waters of Babylon on "folk is not a four letter word vol 2" and really liked it, would love to listen to this but the link appears to be dead. Please please please any chance of reposting it?
Strange. I looked at the title, and could not remember it. But when I saw the cover, it all came back to me. Thanks for sharing this.
I already had the chance to appreciate this blog for excellent information about folk music, some days ago I began downloading and this is very useful for me to listen to many records and decide if they are worth buying or not. So many thanks for giving me this chance. 11:59 is the first record I have listened here, really not bad, good folk rock christian-oriented, otherwise very difficult to find.
Now I have to listen to that track you said most would not listen to. For it is surely the things that us humans avoid most often, is sometimes the best medicine for the soul. I saw this album years ago, and never bought it because of the bland cover, but am looking forward to the adventure thanks to Ancient Star-Song's recommendation. Peace, Eric
