Tir Na Nog
Q. by Anonymous
Hi all together!I need your help to identify a particular song I heard in the radio in 1973 (!!!). As far as I can remember it must have been a new record release at that time.
Fortunately I could record 1 and a half songs on my tape deck, so I ask you now kindly to listen to these songs. You find them here:
anonymous1.mp3
It is a very fine sort of folkrock.
Please listen - maybe you can help me to find what I try to since more than 30 years...
Thanks

This song resp. these songs are "Love Lost / Most Magical" (the first pass into the second) from the lp "Strong in the Sun" by "Tir Na Nog", which I have in vinyl and I haven't listen to since many years. It's rockier than the first two records, which I prefer as a whole album. /
You can listen sample tracks of:
Tir Na Nog "Tear & A Smile(1972)/Strong In The Sun(1973)"
at CD Universe or Leookelly.com
Thanks, Wolfgang

Also D/L whole album of self titled album "Tir Na Nog"(1971)
here: Lost-In-Tyme
If you visitors have any Tir Na Nog or Leo O'Kelly album, please paste links of them at "Recommend?" section. Thanks

Hey if I'm not mistaken, one of these guys recorded at last one (if not more solo albums post-TNN), released in Ireland only. Any chance you've heard those? (Think it might've been Leo O'Kelly)
Wolfgang,
thank you so much! I was wondering about that song for more than 30 years, and now I have certainty only a few hours after posting the request!
btw: I have problems posting a message in this blog when I use the Mozilla browser, because the Visual verification picture does not appear. So I had to take the IE - what I usually try to avoid.
I am glad that I accidentally saw your request and could help with this info. If you have problems to get the whole album send a comment and I'll try if I could make it available.
To the other message: I know that Sonny Condell - the guy on the right side of the cover- made some solo lp's. I have "Camouflage", which has something like folk-jazz. Besides he was a member of the band "Scullion".
By the way I've searched many years for the only album of "Emmet Spiceland", which was the band of Leo O'Kelly before Tir Na Nog I think. Would be great to see this.
Wolfgang
Hi. I'm the guy who just listed that second comment last nite. Just realized that while the O'Kelly stuff sounds like it'll be great, I was actually remembering that TNN's Sonny Condell was one who put out the solo stuff in the '70s. Saw it here: http://www.sonnycondell.com/discography.html
Anyway, have never been able to find this stuff in the States since it came out. Would be great to hear.
Thanks ejg,
All of your posts are brilliant!!
Hi from Leo O'Kelly and Tir na nOg. Just recovering from a very nice gig Sonny and I did only last night in Dublin. We do occasional gigs together, tghe next being Saturday 30 December 206 in The Cobblestone, Dublin. That Emmet Spiceland album is very hard to get;I lent mine, and never got it back.I bought the album in 1968, before I knew I would be joining one of my favourite bands a year later. I replaced Donal Lunny in the group; Donal returned later and we toured USA and Canada together, just before Tir na nOg was formed...and we're still doing it 37 years later! And loving it! Thanks for remembering us. Leo
Does anybody out there have ANY of the Scullion albums for download? I used to have them on tape and literally played them until they fell apart...............
Can't seem to find any CD issues so I'm hoping someone can put some of them up ( White Side of Night' especially). Thanks, Michael.
