Pete Fine ''On A Day Of Crystaline Thought''
(US Psych Folk 1974)
Tremendous orchestral mid-70's style psych from the former guitarist of The Flow. In addition to all the 'standard' rock instruments, our man Mr. Fine also employs flute, timpani, piano, cello, and several violins, all to marvelous effect. This is real, mindblowing psych, spaced out and druggy. Phased drums and guitar, compressed vocals, gorgeous female harmonies, the taste of primo grade Cambodian lamb's breath....
On a day of crystaline thought
I went away with all I'd been taught
Went away, to a land in my mind
I went away, seeking what I could find
Sounds like a dream, but in fact it did seem
That a voice in my head did sing
It sang:
All beings are universes eternal,
And thought never dies,
But forms a vast kingdom of one..

Very nice blog. Very nice music. Thanks!
A suggestion - Marc Brierley's Welcome To The Citadel? Although patchy, at its best it defines acid folk. And yes, I do have it already (vinyl). I just thought it would make a nice addition to your list!
Nice to see you again. But I still missing that album.
I think you have the best blog on the net for the kind of music I like, and I really appreciate the good work you do (especially the album covers you include in your downloads). I have not heard of Pete Fine before but your description (another great feature of your site) makes me think I will love it. Many thanks for all the great sounds you share. Cheers!
Dear Lizardson
