The Bushwackers Band "Flash Jack From Gundagai"
Manila said...
This is a compilation of Australian band The Bushwackers' two late-'70s albums, Murrumbidgee and Bushfire, so I've divided them into separate files as they originally appeared.
I've often thought this is the kind of music Ashley Hutchings might have made had he been born in Toowoomba rather than Southgate! Great, foot-stomping stuff and excellent musicianship.

Wow--great stuff. Their version of "Past Caring" is seriously powerful. I would never have imagined that song with didgeridoo backing, but damned if it doesn't work. If you've got any more by these guys, I'd love to hear it!
Thanks for the Bushwackers - I have a few of their albums including two compilations, but not these two. I agree with you about the Ashley Hutchings comment, especially if you listen to their instrumentals (I think there are more of these on earlier albums).

...and by the way, thanks for using Sharebee. Better than waiting two hours between Rapidshare downloads!

Thanks- Sharebee works Great. Take Care
Thanks for your comments - glad you liked the post.
I'm quite impressed with Sharebee. Rapidshare messes me around so much with messages that I'm already downloading a file when I'm not, etc. etc. On the other hand I know some people have premium Rapidshare accounts, so Sharebee seems the best way to handle it.
I love this blog. All the people here are so nice! :-)
Being Australian, I know the band well. Can I suggest a post of "And The Band Played Waltzing Matilda", a brilliant album with the definitive version of the Eric Bogle classic.
hey, can anyone upload more of their albums? please! its imposible to get it
Thank you , great to hear a dinky di Aussie band.

The Bushies have had about as many line-up changes as the Fairports / Albions too!
Sadly, 2 members on these recordings are no longer with us - Pete Farndon on bass on Murrumbidgee (he joined The Pretenders a little later), and multi-instrumentalist Louis McManus.
