Battlefield Band

"Celtic Hotel" 1987

The music is consistently melodic, rarely cliched and often, as on the title track, hauntingly beautiful. The album sees the whole band growing in stature - Brian McNeill as an instrumental jock-of-all-trades, Alan Reid as a seductive vocalist, while the band as a whole sounds comfortable and adventurous.

"Their most important album so far, firmly establishing them as a powerful contemporary force in Scottish music, without laying waste to their traditional roots." (FOLK ROOTS)

"... the sounds produced by these inventive folk rockers from Scotland is as close to perfection as any album I have heard this year ... they have concocted a winning brew." (DAILY TELEGRAPH)

Another great post Lizardson. Thank you!

The track "Celtic Hotel" seems to be cut off at the end, though. If anyone had a good version of this track, I'd appreciate if they post it... it's such a good song.
